Job summary

Equiliem seeks a local contract Registered Nurse (Correctional) to care for youth in a structured correctional setting in Hertford, North Carolina. The role emphasizes clinical care, education, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

The RN will perform assessments, administer medications, and support health, safety, and wellness through direct patient care and training of staff. Experience in adolescent or juvenile health is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a nursing team and delegating to UAPs.
• Proven ability to coach nursing staff and UAPs.
• Proficient in nursing process: assessment through evaluation.
• Ability to make clinical judgments using evidence and reasoning.
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience orienting and training staff.
• Competent interview techniques to assess patient needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication with patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services for treatment and prevention of illnesses and injuries.
• Perform admission physical assessments for youth.
• Conduct sick calls and ongoing patient assessments.
• Administer medications and oversee medication management.
• Implement physician treatment orders and care plans.
• Provide medication administration and counseling to juveniles.
• Train and oversee UAPs in medication administration.
• Prepare medical discharge summaries and documentation.
• Provide emergency medical services as needed.
• Communicate health information to interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate healthcare and data reports.
• Provide health-related training to staff.
