Job summary

James Madison University seeks an Academic Unit Head for Justice Studies, commencing July 1, 2027. This is a 12-month tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor with a teaching load of 1-1.

The AUH will lead a 13-member faculty, guiding research, teaching, and service across the department and college. The successful candidate will have a PhD, a record of excellence in teaching, research, and service, and a collaborative leadership style aligned with JMU’s

Qualifications

PhD in a relevant discipline.
Track record of teaching, research, and service at advanced Associate/Full Professor level.

Ability to lead and collaborate across units.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership as AUH to advance teaching, research, and service in Justice Studies.
Support undergraduate majors/minors with integrated teaching, research, and service.
Coordinate curriculum development and faculty development.
Foster collegial governance and cross-unit collaboration.
