Job summary

LaBella Associates' Scranton, PA office is seeking a Junior Highway Engineer to join our transportation team. You will work on roadway, trail, and pedestrian projects, contributing to design, drainage, signing, pavement markings, and safety assessments.

Requirements include a Civil Engineering degree (ABET) with transportation focus, 0–5 years' experience, EIT (or ability to obtain within 12 months; PE a plus), and proficient MS Office; familiarity with MicroStation and AutoCAD is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with concentration in Transportation (ABET Accredited).
• 0–5 years of experience in transportation engineering.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months; PE license is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel).
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software is a plus.
• Experience with PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects is a plus.
• Desire to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team in transportation engineering including roadway, trail, and pedestrian projects.
• Design of horizontal and vertical alignments, drainage, signing and pavement markings, safety assessments, erosion and sediment control, and maintenance and protection of traffic schemes.
• Prepare construction-related documents and reports; field reconnaissance and inspection; project rendering.
• Attend meetings and conferences as needed.
