Job summary

VHB is seeking an Entry Level Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Systems/Safety team in Portland, Maine. The role involves collaborating with traffic engineers and planners on diverse public and private sector projects across municipal, state, and university markets.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering degree with 0–1 years of experience, strong communication, and an interest in traffic modeling, data analysis, and multimodal planning.

Qualifications

• 0–1 years of professional experience in traffic engineering or planning.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Team-oriented with ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of traffic engineers on public and private sector projects.
• Collect and tabulate traffic and safety data.
• Perform intersection and corridor analyses using Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, etc.
• Prepare memoranda, reports, and plans summarizing data and analyses.
• Develop intersection designs and multimodal facilities.
