Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Junior Threat Detection Analyst to join the security team in Hartford, CT. The role focuses on investigating alerts, analyzing suspicious activity, and supporting incident response in a hybrid environment.

The ideal candidate is a recent cybersecurity graduate or early-career security professional with a relevant degree, Security+ certification, and familiarity with networking and Windows/Linux systems. This contract offers mentorship and long-term opportunities.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline.
Active CompTIA Security+ certification.
Understanding of cybersecurity principles and security operations concepts.
Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and common protocols.
Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to interpret technical information and make sound decisions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.

Responsibilities

Monitor and investigate security alerts across enterprise infrastructure.
Analyze activity from networks, endpoints, servers, firewalls, and security technologies.
Identify suspicious behavior and apply established response procedures.
Escalate potential incidents to senior analysts and response teams.
Perform log analysis to identify anomalies, indicators of compromise, and emerging threats.
Document investigations and maintain accurate case records.
Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT teams to support security operations initiatives.
Assist with improving monitoring processes, playbooks, and procedures.
