Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking an entry level Systems Engineer I to collaborate with design, controls, and senior engineers to develop innovative unmanned systems for defense and commercial uses. This role involves requirements allocation, architecture development, and participating through stages from concept to verification.

The position requires a bachelors in engineering/math and familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab. Prototyping autonomous systems and model-based engineering experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of related experience.
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab required.

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly status updates on system development progress with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystems and coordinate engineering efforts.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Define system build in test for fault detection, isolation and recovery.
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis.
• Write system requirements and system test plans; assist in validation testing.
