Job summary

Dunhill Professional Search & Government Solutions seeks a Junior System Administrator to support daily operation and maintenance of enterprise IT systems in a mission-critical federal environment. You will focus on hands-on administration of Windows servers, user accounts, configurations, and core infrastructure services across remote client environments, building foundational expertise under guidance.

Ideal candidates have 0–3 years in IT, a Bachelor’s in IT or related field, DoD 8140

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT or related field.
• 0–3 years in IT operations or systems administration.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Office 365.
• Ability to troubleshoot routine hardware/software issues with minimal supervision.
• Active DoD 8140 readiness or ability to obtain Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Experience in federal or mission-critical environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer operating systems, user accounts, and configurations per security policies.
• Perform monitoring, log analysis, and health checks for performance and capacity.
• Apply patches and security configurations to servers and apps to stay compliant.
• Configure and manage backup and recovery processes; verify restorations.
• Troubleshoot outages and incidents; escalate as needed.
• Use PowerShell/Bash to automate routine tasks and improve consistency.
• Support virtualization and cloud environments with basic VM and cloud admin.
• Maintain accurate runbooks, configuration baselines, and change records.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support 24/7 availability.
