Job summary

Merrick & Company in Richmond, VA seeks a Structural Engineer to design equipment support structures, piping supports, walkways, and foundations for petrochemical, power, biofuels, and manufacturing facilities.

You will work with a team, travel to client sites as needed, and develop drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications while adhering to schedules and budgets. This entry-to-mid level role requires ABET-approved BS and FE exam pursuit; U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 0–4 years engineering experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.
• Familiarity with structural design codes such as AISC and ACI-318.
• FE exam completed or in progress; PE licensure pursued.

Responsibilities

• Design of equipment supports, piping supports, access platforms, walkways, pipe racks, buildings, foundations, and retaining walls.
• Prepare structural drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and CAD technicians.
• Travel to client sites for data collection and meetings.
• Meet project schedules and budgets while ensuring quality.
