Job summary

MDC Precision, LLC is seeking a junior software developer in California to work closely with technical leadership on hands-on implementation. You will build features for SaaS/web apps, leverage AI coding tools, review AI output for security and correctness, and integrate AI APIs into workflows.

You will collaborate in an agile team, design database queries, and support deployment pipelines across cloud platforms. 1–3 years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Basic web fundamentals: HTML/CSS, REST APIs, and a modern frontend framework (React or Next.js).
• Familiar with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git/GitHub version control.
• Strong problem-solving skills and quick learning in an AI-augmented environment.
• Proficient with Linux and Windows OS.

Responsibilities

This role is for a junior developer who is comfortable using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar) as a core part of the development workflow, not as a replacement for engineering judgment. In 2026, junior developer expectations have shifted from writing code line-by-line toward owning small features end-to-end, reviewing AI-generated code for correctness and security, and knowing when to accept, modify, or reject AI suggestions. The company is a small, agile team building SaaS/web applications and automation tools, and this position will work closely with technical leadership on hands-on implementation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features for web applications and internal tools using modern frameworks (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python)
• Use AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex) to accelerate coding, debugging, and documentation, while critically reviewing all AI-generated output for logic, security, and performance issues
• Integrate third-party and AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into applications and automation workflows
• Write clean, tested, version-controlled code using Git/GitHub, including participation in code reviews and pull requests
• Assist in designing and implementing database schemas and SQL queries
• Support deployment pipelines and basic cloud infrastructure tasks (AWS, Azure, or similar)
• Participate in agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and document processes and system changes
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, collaborating with senior developers to refine requirements

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional or project-based experience in software/web development (internships, bootcamps, and self-directed projects are accepted)
• Practical experience with at least one core language: JavaScript/TypeScript or Python
• Working familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex) and the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code rather than accept it uncritically
• Basic understanding of web development fundamentals (HTML/CSS, REST APIs, a modern frontend framework such as React or Next.js)
• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
• Experience with Git/GitHub version control
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn quickly in a fast-moving, AI-augmented environment
• Proficient with Linux and Windows OS

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience integrating LLM/AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude) into applications or automation workflows
• A portfolio of 2–3 deployed personal or bootcamp projects demonstrating practical use of AI coding tools, with documented READMEs
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical/self-taught experience
• Basic security awareness — understanding of common vulnerabilities and secure coding practices
