Job summary

Davidson is seeking a Junior Software Engineer in Huntsville, AL to support SCALE, a data-driven analytics platform for procurement, logistics, and forecasting for DoW. You will develop data pipelines, REST APIs, and integrate databases within an Agile team, focusing on secure, scalable software and data governance.

The ideal candidate has 1–4 years of software development experience, proficiency in Python/C++/Java, and familiarity with SQL and relational databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 1–4 years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, or similar.
• Experience in Linux and Windows environments.
• Understanding of full software lifecycle (code reviews, testing, version control).
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and database interaction (SQL, PostgreSQL).
• Proficiency with SQL and relational schema design.
• Ability to derive insights from large datasets and communicate findings.

Responsibilities

• Develop data pipelines, REST APIs, and integrations between databases and analytics components.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews and testing.
• Assist in containerization and deployment in a DevSecOps pipeline.
• Collaborate with Product Owner and engineers to translate requirements into tasks and software.
• Support dashboard/data service integration and secure data exchange.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint goals.
• Explore innovative ideas and technologies to expand capabilities.
• Self-organize and contribute to iterative development and ceremonies.
• Collaborate and visualize concepts via whiteboarding and diagrams.
• Manage relational databases and data pipelines across sources; ensure integrity and traceability.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
