Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Herndon, VA team supporting a large, classified program that develops, operates, and maintains mission-critical enterprise capabilities.

The role emphasizes Agile development, DevOps practices, and test-driven development while contributing to cloud-native, microservice-based products. A TS/SCI clearance (or eligibility) and a related degree with experience are required, with a strong emphasis on Java and full-stack skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an area relevant to the position; 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Active TS/SCI or SCI eligibility and active polygraph or ability to obtain a polygraph.
• Strong foundational knowledge of Java OOP development.
• Willingness to learn and become an effective team member.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Full-time work in a SCIF.

Responsibilities

• Apply agile development processes to implement features defined by user stories in 3-week Sprints/3 Month Spins.
• Develop full stack Java solutions and maintain platform applications and libraries.
• Develop and maintain existing applications as requested and when updates are required.
• Resolve database issues and create new features/functionality for existing databases.

Program includes development and support for existing mission systems in parallel with effort to develop and deliver modernized cloud native, microservice-based products. Team applies Agile methodology, DevOps principles and behaviour and test-driven development practices.

Responsibilities

• Candidate will apply agile development processes to implement features as defined by user stories, 3-week Sprints/3 Month Spins.
• Development using Java full stack.
• Develop/maintain platform related applications and libraries.
• Develop/maintain existing applications as requirements are requested and when updates are required.
• Candidate will resolve database issues and in creating new features/functionality for existing database.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Desired Qualifications

• An already active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Demonstrated experience with the systems engineering life-cycle.
• Previous hands-on experience through coursework or internships.
• Previous hands-on coding experience with Python, React, Javascript, Postgres, & SQL.

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
