Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to support Naval projects in Dahlgren, VA. This position will support the development, integration, testing, and deployment of software for DoW weapons and sensor systems.

The Software Engineer will work as part of a cross-functional systems and software engineering team supporting mission-critical applications and modernization efforts. The role involves coding in C/C++, Java, and Python, agile practices, and collaboration with government and industry

Qualifications

• 0–10 years of relevant software development or engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Active Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, and deploy software in C/C++, Java, and/or Python.

• Utilize development and collaboration tools including Git, Jira, and static code analysis tools.

Software Engineer Responsibilities Include:

• Develop, integrate, test, and deploy software in C/C++, Java, and/or Python.

Minimum Requirements:

• 0–10 years of relevant software development or engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field, or equivalent experience in lieu of the education requirement.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in support of scientific and engineering work.
• Ability to work independently and within established teams to meet schedule-driven requirements.
• Must have an active Secret security clearance. Note: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with embedded systems, GNC algorithms, and High/Low/Medium Fidelity Simulators.
• One (1) or more years of experience with Surface Combat Systems or DoW weapons system sustainment.
• Experience sustaining software systems on surface ships and/or subsurface boats.
• Systems engineering experience supporting the development and integration of software systems on surface ships and/or subsurface platforms.

Compensation Details:

$110,000
