Job summary

Koniag Data Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, seeks a Junior Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to support SBA in Washington, DC. You will learn under senior SOC staff, performing first-line monitoring, alert triage, and incident documentation within SBA's enterprise IT environment.

Ideal candidates have foundational SOC knowledge, a degree in cybersecurity/IT/CS, and 0–2 years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS or related field.
  • 0–2 years in cybersecurity or IT operations with foundational SOC knowledge.
  • Foundational knowledge of security operations, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Certifications: CompTIA Security+, CS, CySA+, SC-200, SSCP.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first-line monitoring and triage of security alerts and events from SBA's SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and related tools.
  • Assist in initial triage and analysis of security events under senior SOC staff guidance.
  • Support incident response activities and document incident details in SBA's systems.
  • Monitor SBA networks, systems, and endpoints for IOCs and anomalous activity; escalate findings.
  • Assist in collection and analysis of log data from Windows Event Logs, Syslog, firewall, web proxy, and application logs.
  • Support documentation and tracking of incidents, tickets, and cases in SBA's incident management platform.
  • Prepare SOC shift handoff reports, daily activity summaries, and security event trend reports.
  • Support vulnerability management by reviewing scan results and tracking remediation tickets.
  • Help maintain SOC SOPs, playbooks, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
  • Participate in SOC team meetings and training to improve skills.
  • Assist in reviewing threat intel from US-CERT, CISA, and others for SBA's environment.
