Job summary

Decision Technologies, Inc. is seeking a junior RF/electrical engineer to join our Arlington, VA team for an on-site role supporting Navy weapons engineering and acquisition programs.

The successful candidate will assess RF sensor performance, radar capabilities, and data link integrity while collaborating with engineers and subcontractors across disciplines. A DoD SECRET clearance is required or must be eligible; bachelor's degree and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Active DoD SECRET clearance required or eligible.
  • Exposure to systems engineering for Navy terminal defense systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate RF sensor performance, seeker tracking, and antenna capabilities to assess detection range and target acquisition.
  • Perform radar system trade-off studies, RF propagation modeling, link budget, and fade margin analyses.
  • Analyze RF uplinks/downlinks and C2/tactical data links for shipboard baselines with weapon systems.
  • Provide E3/EMI analysis and mitigation strategies for topside platforms and safety compliance.
  • Review firing policies and emitter management to resolve RF interference constraints.
  • Support T&E, telemetry, and augmentation planning by evaluating telemetry systems and data links.
  • Review OEM ECPs, WSs, TDPs, and ICDs related to RF hardware modifications.

We are seeking a qualified Junior RF/Electrical Engineer in Arlington, VA. This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote work situations. This is a 100% on-site, in-office position.

YOU MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR A DOD SECRET CLEARANCE

Position Description:

The selectee will perform as the Decision Technologies Weapon System RF/Electrical Engineer for a US Navy Weapons Engineering and Program Acquisition Support contract. In the accomplishment of this task, the selectee will be directly responsible for the following:

  • RF Sensor & Radar Performance Assessment: Evaluate RF sensor performance, seeker tracking algorithms, and antenna subsystem capabilities across missile and terminal defense radar baselines to assess detection range, clutter rejection, and target acquisition against complex threat profiles.
  • Radar Trade-Offs & Link Budget Analysis: Perform radar system trade-off studies, RF propagation modeling, link budget calculations, and fade margin analyses to optimize weapon system track accuracy, target designation, and fire control loop reaction times.
  • C2 & Tactical Data Link Integration: Analyze and evaluate RF communication uplinks, downlinks, and tactical data links connecting shipboard Command and Control (C2/SSDS/Aegis) baselines with guided missile weapon systems to ensure robust command and telemetry transfer.
  • E3, Topside Interference & Safety Analysis: Provide technical analysis and mitigation strategies for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), assessing topside platform emitter interactions, RF receiver saturation, and HERO/HERP/HERF safety compliance across various ship classes.
  • Firing Policies & RF Mutual Interference: Review and provide technical comments on fire control logic, emitter management, and weapon system firing policies to resolve RF interference constraints and enhance overall probability of kill () during multi-target/multi-missile engagements.
  • T&E, Telemetry & Augmentation Support: Support missile flight test planning and execution by defining RF target augmentation requirements, evaluating telemetry (TM) systems and communication links, and analyzing post-flight RF sensor performance data to identify capability gaps.
  • Technical Data & RF Specification Reviews: Review and provide actionable technical feedback on OEM Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Weapon Specifications (WS), Technical Data Packages (TDPs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) related to RF hardware modifications, seeker updates, and electronic protection (EP) enhancements.

  • Exposure to systems engineering for specific Navy terminal defense systems such as RAM and CIWS.
  • An active DoD SECRET clearance
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and subcontractors from various technical, acquisition, and administrative disciplines
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver coherent and concise customer presentations
