Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Refrigeration EIT to design refrigeration systems for national retail clients, based in Boise, ID or Missoula, MT. You will perform load calculations, select system components, and produce construction documents with a two-week turnaround.

The role offers growth from one project to multiple projects over a year, with field travel four to six times yearly. You will collaborate with senior engineers and project managers, gain exposure to the full lifecycle of projects,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 0–5 years of relevant project experience.
• Familiarity with Autodesk MEP Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and analyze product specifications.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• FE exam passed or in progress.
• Hands-on Revit or AutoCAD experience from coursework or prior work.
• Interest in AI tools and emerging tech in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis and load calculations to determine cooling demand.
• Develop system architecture for refrigeration projects across DX, CO2, and hybrid configurations.
• Produce plans, sections, details, specs, and schedules for construction documents.
• Coordinate with MEP, architectural, and structural teams to resolve design conflicts.
• Prepare project submittals for owner review and permit approval, respond to RFIs.
• Research codes and jurisdictional requirements and apply findings to designs.
• Travel to project sites for field coordination and observation.
