Job summary

D’Leon Consulting Engineers in Los Angeles seeks a civil engineer to support metro design and construction projects. You will develop workplans, drawings, safety guidelines, maintenance needs, specifications, estimates, and operational requirements while coordinating with vendors and consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Three to five years of engineering experience in design or construction management.
• State of California PE registration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare workplans, drawings, safety guidelines, maintenance needs, and specifications.
• Review data, drawings, and blueprints; negotiate changes with vendors.
• Coordinate with technical consultants on drawings and documents.
• Coordinate design/construction/modification projects with stakeholders.
• Oversee contractor work to ensure schedule and budget compliance.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and economic analyses.
• Coordinate services with outside agencies.
• Represent Metro with construction and supplier communities.
• Write Scope of Work (SOW) for each project.
• Maintain files and records.
• Interpret contract specs, codes, and safety orders.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related engineering field

State of California registration as a Professional Engineer (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Prepares workplans, drawings, safety guidelines, maintenance requirements, training requirements, specifications, estimates, and operational needs within Metro's standards and requirements
• Reviews and analyzes data, specifications, drawings, and blueprints, then makes changes or recommendations; negotiates changes with vendors
• Coordinates with technical consultants to review technical drawings and documents
• Coordinates projects for design, construction, and modification of Metro facilities with all parties involved, including internal agency employees, and outside contractors
• Oversees contractor/consultant work for compliance with schedule and budget
• Prepares technical reports, feasibility studies, economic analysis, and correspondence
• Coordinates services with outside agencies
• Represents Metro with construction/engineering/supplier community
• Writes Scope of Work (SOW) for each project
• Maintains various files and records

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related engineering field
• Three to five years of relevant experience performing engineering work in design or construction management roles
• State of California registration as a Professional Engineer, preferred
• Work at the designated project office
• Software applications as they relate to assigned engineering discipline, e.g., AutoCAD (Computer‑Aided Design) and Visio
• Performing complex engineering work in assigned discipline
