Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Entry Project Controls Specialist to join our Project Controls Team in a hybrid role. You will help ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget, gathering progress data and developing forecasts with Earned Value Management insight.

The ideal candidate has basic project management knowledge, strong communication skills, and familiarity with Primavera and EcoSys. Travel is 10% or less and collaboration with project managers is essential.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position due to federal contract requirements.
• Entry level knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Good teamwork and collaboration skills and an ability to work well in fast paced environments requiring daily shifting of priorities.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with varying levels of staff, as well as vendors.
• Entry knowledge of Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools (Primavera).
• Basic knowledge of Project Performance tools (EcoSys).
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
• Ability to deal with many people, and process a variety of requests as necessary.
• Good computer skills including proficiency in MS Word and Excel; organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Supports compliance with internal procedures and federal regulations.
• Gathers project progress information to update and monitor the project.
• Evaluates and updates data regarding schedule dates, percent complete, resource requirements and project accruals.
• Develops time‑phased project cost and resource forecasts; validates project costs; updates requirements as required.
• Monitors progress of project deliverables and performs performance reporting using Earned Value Management.
