Job summary

Magna Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting in the United States is seeking a capable engineer to contribute to concept generation and design reviews, supporting innovative solutions in automotive lighting and sensing technologies. You’ll collaborate with engineers to develop ideas and participate in IP-enabling activities.

The role emphasizes structured problem solving, curiosity, and a proactive approach to learning new tools and methods while documenting technical findings for team use.

Qualifications

• Preferred bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• Basic Engineering Knowledge of design (including CAD / 3D modeling), development, and manufacturing processes
• Creative Thinking to support idea generation and contribute to innovative solutions
• Problem-Solving Skills using structured methods with guidance from senior engineers
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support innovation projects
• Adaptability and Learning with a strong interest in new technologies and continuous improvement
• Communication & Documentation skills to clearly record technical work and explain problems and ideas in a simple, structured way to team members and mentors

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the development of innovative solutions by supporting concept generation, design activities, and process improvements
• Assists in identifying and exploring emerging engineering trends and technologies relevant to the field
• Participates in brainstorming sessions and design reviews, offering creative input and learning from senior team members
• Applies structured problem-solving methods and basic risk management techniques to assigned tasks
• Collaborates with engineers and cross-functional teams to implement innovative ideas within defined project scopes
• Supports the documentation of technical findings, design iterations, and potential intellectual property
• Demonstrates curiosity and initiative in learning new tools, methods, and technologies that support innovation
• Seeks feedback and guidance from senior engineers to continuously improve technical and creative capabilities
• Helps evaluate alternative solutions and contributes to the refinement of engineering practices and processes
• Participates in innovation pitch process (IPP) to come up with new ideas
• Follows innovation development procedure (IDP) to develop new products and processes
• Performs other related duties as assigned
