Placements24 in East London, Eastern Cape, is seeking a Junior Product Developer for a hands-on internship within the R&D team. You will assist in creating, developing, and optimizing new food products from concept to commercialization, performing sensory evaluations, and supporting scale-up trials and packaging development.

You will work alongside experienced R&D scientists, contributing to cross-functional projects with marketing, operations, and QA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Chemistry, or related field.
• Strong academic record and passion for food product development.
• Basic understanding of food chemistry and formulation principles.

Responsabilités

• Assist in developing new food product formulations based on market trends and business objectives.
• Conduct laboratory-scale experiments and pilot plant trials to test prototypes.
• Perform sensory evaluations and document results with feedback.

About the Role

Our client, a leading name in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector with a strong focus on innovative food products, is looking for a bright and eager Junior Product Developer to join their Research & Development team in East London, Eastern Cape . This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional passionate about food science and product innovation. The Junior Product Developer will assist in the creation, development, and optimization of new food products, from concept to commercialization. You will work under the guidance of experienced R&D scientists and product developers, contributing to sensory evaluations, formulation, scale-up trials, and packaging development. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of new food product formulations based on market trends, consumer insights, and business objectives.
• Conduct laboratory-scale experiments and pilot plant trials to test and refine product prototypes.

• Support the scale-up process from laboratory to full production, troubleshooting any issues that arise.
• Assist in the evaluation and selection of ingredients and packaging materials, ensuring they meet product requirements and regulatory standards.
• Maintain detailed records of experiments, formulations, and trial results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and quality assurance, throughout the product development lifecycle.

Requirements
