Position: Junior Network Engineer

Location: Franconia/Springfield, VA

Responsibilities include:

1. Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, data communications networks, operating systems, and servers.
2. Ensure stable operation and performance of data networks, monitor and manage network hardware and equipment, analyze network performance, and develop remedies for bottlenecks.
3. Perform system monitoring, verify hardware, network, and server resource integrity and availability.
4. Review logs, verify scheduled jobs, including backups.
5. Analyze network and server resource consumption, control user access, install and upgrade software, and maintain licenses.
6. Assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination of hardware and software.
7. Provide network performance reports and statistics.
8. Assist with installation and configuration of network hardware, including routers, switches, and encryption.
9. Inspect and maintain network cabling and related equipment.
10. Assist with hardware and software upgrades and develop policies and procedures for network management.
11. Manage network assets, inventory, and documentation.
12. Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (Master's preferred).
• 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Cisco network solutions, network security, and management tools like SolarWinds is desirable.
• Knowledge of firewalls (Palo Alto, Forcepoint Stonegate).
• Experience with LAN/WAN, network hardware/software, and certifications like Cisco or Juniper is a plus.
• Strong communication, time management, dependability, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments.
