Job summary

Office of the Illinois Secretary of State – Alexi Giannoulias is seeking an Information Systems Technician I in Springfield, IL. The role supports the Integration Management Team within Enterprise Applications, focusing on MuleSoft and API-based integrations, design, development, testing, and maintenance.

The position requires basic IT knowledge, ability to learn, and collaboration with architecture, platform, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable integrations across environments.

Qualifications

• Elementary knowledge of information technology concepts and documentation principles.
• Basic hardware and software concepts; provide technical/support services.
• Fundamentals of accounting and statistics theories.
• Knowledge of data capture devices and remote data transmission.
• Ability to maintain computer system documentation.
• Willingness to participate in formal in-service training.
• Ability to analyze data logically.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate.
• Adherence to security, privacy and ethics standards.
• Driver's license and willingness to travel as required; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, and maintenance of enterprise integrations using MuleSoft, API-led connectivity, Java, and related technologies.
• Assist in building REST APIs, data transformations, orchestration flows, and integration pipelines.
• Follow architecture patterns, security guidelines, and integration standards; help troubleshoot issues.
• Contribute to code reviews and follow best practices within the Integration Management Team.
• Investigate production integration issues and coordinate with application/infrastructure teams to resolve problems.
• Maintain accurate documentation for APIs, integration designs, and support procedures.
