Job summary

CACI is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support NSWC Crane, performing design, drafting, and analysis for marine systems. You will generate drawings, create CAD models in AutoCAD, and contribute to specifications and reports for shipboard installations.

The role requires a ABET-accredited engineering degree, US citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance, with up to 10% travel. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in a dynamic defense environment.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree (BSME/BSCE/BSNA/ME).
• Ability to write clear reports and specifications.
• Interface with team members, technical leads and Project Managers.
• Work independently on projects and with other disciplines.
• Experience with US Navy and/or US commercial ship design standards.
• Write white and point papers with minimal oversight.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Create CAD models and machinery arrangements in AutoCAD.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel ≤10%.
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support including spec writing, design, mechanical calculations, outfitting design, and documentation per standards.
• Generate mechanical drawings for systems and outfitting.
• Draft multi-view drawings of systems, machinery spaces, and products.
• Draw finished designs from sketches using solid models for installation and removal.
• Collaborate with team members and project managers on Navy/industrial projects.
• Travel up to 10% as required.
