Job summary

InSite Engineering invites an entry-level Junior Landscape Designer to join our multidisciplinary team in Wall Township, NJ. You will work with licensed Landscape Architects, engineers, and project managers on diverse land development projects, gaining hands-on experience and building toward licensure.

You'll assist with planning, landscape and planting plans, and site details using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, while learning about community design standards and permitting processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • 0–2 years of landscape architecture experience; internships welcomed.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D preferred.
  • Experience with Land F/X, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Familiarity with plant materials and basic site design concepts.
  • Interest in pursuing Landscape Architect licensure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities; attentive to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and landscape design of residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use land development projects.
  • Prepare landscape plans, planting plans, lighting plans, site amenities, presentation graphics, and construction details under the guidance of a licensed Landscape Architect.
  • Develop and modify design drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Assist with the selection and placement of plant materials, site furnishings, screening, buffers, and other landscape elements.
  • Research municipal ordinances, zoning regulations, landscape requirements, and applicable local and state design standards.
  • Compile project data, mapping, photographs, and site information to support project planning and design.
  • Participate in site visits, field investigations, client meetings, and project coordination meetings.
  • Assist with landscape-related permit applications, technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, planners, and other members of the multidisciplinary project team.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of site plan, subdivision, and land development applications.
  • Support project teams through design revisions, agency review, and construction documentation.

As a Junior Landscape Designer, you'll work alongside licensed Landscape Architects, engineers, and project managers on a variety of land development projects. What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 0–2 years of relevant landscape architecture experience; internships and co-op experience are encouraged.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Experience with Land F/X, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with plant materials, landscape design principles, and basic site design concepts.
  • Interest in pursuing professional Landscape Architect licensure is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn, collaborate, and develop professionally.
