Job summary

Vanguard's Investment Data Operations team in Malvern, PA is seeking a data operations professional to produce timely gold-copy investment data and drive process improvements across data domains.

In this role, you'll investigate complex data challenges, perform QA on reports, collaborate with internal and external data partners, and transform millions of data points into trusted data used across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant work experience in financial/investments industry.
• Strong analytical, research, problem solving and time management skills.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, Github; Claude is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete complex tasks under tight deadlines, manage competing priorities, and analyze multiple inputs to meet objectives.
• Research and analyze data exceptions with data suppliers and partners; maintain data integrity and approved data distribution.
• Execute and analyze daily and periodic data reporting and quality control queries; provide advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions to gain efficiencies and ensure quality.
• Perform root cause analysis and elevate issues when appropriate.
• Build a strong knowledge of funds and securities; support production of gold-copy data.
• Provide project support by participating in testing, monitoring, and reporting activities.
• Create and improve procedures and workflows; elevate control gaps for timely resolution.

To produce timely and accurate gold-copy investment data per assigned data domain with a focus on operational efficiency and output quality. To execute and analyze a wide variety of complex data exception reports, quality control queries, and periodic reports in a timely and accurate manner. Proactively engages and works collaboratively with colleagues across the fund ecosystem to improve and sustain operational processes.

You Will:

• Complete complex tasks while working under tight deadlines, managing competing priorities, and analyzing multiple inputs to meet operational objectives. Research and analyze data exceptions with internal/external data suppliers and partners. Maintain system and business controls to ensure data integrity and approved data distribution to the enterprise.
• Execute and analyze a wide variety of daily and periodical data reporting and quality control queries in a timely and accurate manner. Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution in identifying issues/trends in reports or source systems. Provide ongoing reporting to fulfill the needs of both regulatory bodies and internal partners, as needed.
• Recognize improvement opportunities based on process knowledge and recommend and implement proper solutions to gain efficiencies and ensure quality.
• Perform root cause analysis of data errors and provide short-term and long-term solutions for issues, elevating issues when appropriate.
• Build a strong network and share knowledge and experience. Proactively engage and work collaboratively with colleagues across the fund ecosystem and the enterprise to improve and sustain global operational processes.
• Develop a strong and consistent knowledge of the funds and securities assigned and understands the details driving the global operational processes and the downstream impacts. Leverage product and operational knowledge to aid in the production of gold-copy data.
• Provide project support by participating in acceptance and regression testing, system monitoring, and other project-related activities as needed. Monitor and ensures data quality by using existing business knowledge to create test cases and monitoring reports that ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Create, maintain, and improve procedures and workflows. Identify and elevate potential control gaps in a timely manner to ensure resolution and to lessen impact.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree (preferably in accounting, finance, economics, or related field)
• Minimum of three years relevant work experience with financial and investments industry experience required
• Strong analytical ability capabilities, research, problem solving, and time management skills required
• Strong, demonstrated problem identification, analysis, and resolution skills
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, Github and Claude is a significant plus
