Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Finance, Accounting and or Business Administration with a focus in the area of internal auditing or equivalent;
  • Must possess one (1) to three (3) years of verifiable audit or internal experience. Experience in Indian Gaming is a plus;
  • Must possess the ability to uphold the Internal Audit Department’s reputation by remaining objective, neutral and possess the ability to keep required information confidential;
  • Must possess the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a changing environment;
  • Must possess the ability to work through high volume and or stressful time periods;
  • Must have the ability to prioritize based in urgency;
  • Experience with casino/hotel auditing a plus;
  • Must be eligible for an occupational gaming license;
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, both written and oral forms;
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to comfortably communicate to all levels of management;
  • Must have knowledge of auditing principles and standards with a familiarity of various computer systems and applications;
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze gaming and hotel operations;
  • Must possess strong evidence of proficiency in Microsoft excel and Microsoft access with a strength in creating complex formulas;
  • Must possess a verifiable history of ability to handle confidential information appropriately using discretion, integrity and diplomacy;
  • Must possess the ability to build effective and collaborative relationships with departments within the organization;
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Gaming License
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Must be able to frequently move freely about the property, maintain manual dexterity to operate job related equipment, such as telephones, copiers, etc., withstand various activities such as frequent walking, sitting for long periods and withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending and kneeling without restriction
  • Be able to work indoors and be exposed to various environmental contaminants including smoke
  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds unassisted in the performance of specific tasks assigned
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, receive direction, and provide feedback when needed to achieve department goals and objectives
  • Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with guests in a congenial and polite manner
  • Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Jr. Internal Auditor is to assist Internal Audit Management by providing independent objective assurance and consulting designed to protect organizational value and enhance organizational operations. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Tribal Gaming Agency policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Adhere to the Miccosukee Service Expectations and ensure team compliance
  • Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices and other pertinent documentation;
  • Ensures that documentation obtained contains sufficient, competent and relevant evidential matter to support the conclusions reached;
  • Performs and documents observations;
  • Protect against fraud and theft of the organization’s assets;
  • Assist by providing assurance relating to compliance with National Indian Gaming Commission regulations, Bank Secretary Act (Title 31), financial accounting and auditing standards, and company internal controls;
  • Compare and contrast property controls with regulatory requirements and generally expected internal controls;
  • Works with the Internal Audit Management on making recommendations to improve the systems of internal controls across the organization;
  • Assist in completing fieldwork, explaining audit exceptions, and recommending operational enhancements or efficiencies;
  • Conduct financial analytical reviews upon request by Internal Audit Management;
  • Assist with the preparations and submission of Internal Audit reports;
  • Conducts Follow - Up audits to ensure proper procedures have been implemented;
  • Works with the Internal Audit Management in performing risk based assessment of the organization’s operation and conduct internal reviews of AML Program;
  • Completes audit work papers by documenting audit tests and findings;
  • Prepare reports that reflects the audit’s results and document the audit process;
  • All other duties assigned by Internal Audit Management

The Casino & Resort will function seven days a week, 24 hours a day. We may find it necessary to re-schedule shifts according to our business volume. You must be willing and available to fulfill these demands

While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to walk, stand and sit. The associate will occasionally be required to climb and use balance. Additionally, the team member will frequently be asked to use hands and arms carry and lift items. Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision and distance vision.
While performing the duties of this job, the team member may experience temperature fluctuations and moderate to high levels of noise. This is a smoking environment.
