Job summary

Hoyt Middle School in Des Moines, IA, seeks an MS Assistant Boys Basketball Coach (Stipend) to support the Head Coach with coaching duties, practice planning, and student-athlete development. This is a part-time stipend position with responsibilities aligned to the athletic program and district guidelines.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid Iowa Coaching Endorsement or Coaching Authorization, demonstrate strong communication and leadership, and show experience in coaching or team leadership.

Qualifications

• Requires valid Iowa Coaching Endorsement or Coaching Authorization.
• Demonstrated strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
• Coaching and/or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach in operating the athletic program.
• Instruct players on rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Ensure compliance with district, state, and regional regulations.
• Provide supervision of athletes at all times.
• Participate in team prospects meetings and encourage athlete participation.
• Maintain eligibility forms and equipment inventory.
• Monitor academic performance to support eligibility.
• Model sportsmanship and professional conduct.
• Attend events and activities such as parent nights and award ceremonies.
• Follow district policies and procedures.
• Participate in staff development to improve coaching performance.
