Job summary

Joseph City USD 2 is seeking a Jr. High Basketball Assistant Coach to support the head coach and help develop student-athletes. This part-time seasonal role emphasizes skill-building, sportsmanship, and positive character growth.

The assistant works with the Activities Director to plan practices, monitor equipment, ensure safety, and foster an environment that supports the district’s sports program and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Leadership skills sufficiently effective to perform assigned duties.
• Communication skills sufficiently effective to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach in planning and organizing the Jr. High sports program.
• Help create an environment conducive to learning and development of students.
• Work with head coach to assess skills and assign team positions.
• Attend practices throughout the year.
• Acquire and maintain coaching requirements for Joseph City Schools.
• Teach athletes the fundamental skills, theory, and strategy of the sport.
• Model good sportsmanship.
• Support with supervisors and other staff.
• Coordinate with other departments and staff as needed.
• Track uniforms and equipment and ensure return in working order.
• Attend the end-of-year awards event.
• Safeguard district equipment and facilities.
• Ensure compliance with safety practices and applicable codes.
• Maintain confidentiality in student, staff and management information.
• Support the mission and positive culture of Joseph City Schools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
