Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation, a leader in civil construction, is seeking a Junior Estimator to join our Sylmar, CA office.

You will perform quantity takeoffs, help develop cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, and support bid preparation. The role requires strong math, drawings familiarity, and excellent coordination with project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Assist in developing cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and temporary works.
• Review project drawings, geotechnical reports, specifications, and bid requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating records.
• Support the preparation of bid packages, proposals, and estimate summaries.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and senior estimators to validate construction methods and pricing assumptions.
• Assist with risk analysis, value engineering opportunities, and scope reviews.
• Organize and maintain bid documents, correspondence, and estimate files.
• Help prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for ongoing and future projects.
• Ensure estimates comply with company standards, client requirements, and project schedules.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Experience in construction estimating, project engineering, field engineering, or a related heavy civil environment, preferred.
• Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
