Job summary

NYS Office of General Services in Albany, NY seeks an entry‑level engineer to support environmental engineering projects. You will assist in designing water and wastewater systems, preparing reports, drawings, and specifications under licensed staff supervision.

You will coordinate with other disciplines, review consultant work, and help manage project documentation while collaborating with senior designers and project managers to ensure objectives are met.

Qualifications

• Candidate must pass FE examination and hold a qualifying bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
• One year of full-time qualifying engineering experience may be required.
• Resumes must include month/year start and end dates for work experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in environmental engineering duties including water/wastewater system design.
• Assist in preparing reports and design changes with licensed staff supervision.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, estimates, and studies for design projects.
• Coordinate design drawings with other disciplines and cost estimates.
• Assist in scheduling projects according to workload and design schedules.
• Review reports, drawings, specs, and cost estimates from consultants.
• Assist supervision of consultant design work and maintain project documentation.
• Collaborate with senior designers and project managers to meet goals.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and observe construction as needed.
• May supervise consultant work and perform other duties as assigned.
