Job summary

Observable Space in Los Angeles is seeking a Junior Embedded Software Engineer to join our embedded team across hardware platforms. You will build and maintain embedded Linux systems and low-level firmware, bring up peripherals, write drivers, and assist with bench work from day one.

You'll collaborate closely with senior engineers, read schematics, and gain exposure to edge compute and cross-disciplinary teams while growing hands-on skills in a fast-growing space tech environment.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of embedded software engineering experience or related internship.
• Proficiency in C; working knowledge of C++.
• Foundation in hardware interfaces: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet.

Responsibilities

• Support development, testing, and debugging of embedded Linux systems and low-level firmware.
• Develop and maintain drivers across PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART, MIPI CSI-2, and GPIO.
• Bring up peripherals (cameras, sensors, links) at both software and hardware levels.
• Own component test campaigns, set up rigs and collect results.
• Participate in longevity testing campaigns and analyze data to catch issues.
• Engage in design and code reviews to build reliability and learning.
