Job summary

Hanley Energy is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer in Ashburn, VA to support the Lead Cx Engineer across AMER projects. You will assist with site activities, participate in commissioning tasks, and produce progress reports while coordinating with third‑party agents and clients.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, adherence to standards, and travel to customer sites. Candidates should have at least 1 year of related experience and fluency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Electrical Lead Cx Eng with projects across AMER.

  • Ensure documentation adheres to procedures.
  • Travel to customer sites as required.
  • Provide on-call customer support for critical product lines.

We are looking for an ELECTRICAL COMMISSIONING ENGINEER to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia.

This role is within the Hanley Energy US East Region, providing project support to the Lead Electrical Cx Engineer. Prior training and experience working with Critical Electrical Systems is essential for the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Electrical Lead Cx Eng with assigned projects across AMER.
  • Support Cx Engineers with site activities
  • Actively participate in commissioning activities and make every effort to learn the trade
  • Achieve career milestones as set by CX Lead
  • Provide firsthand coordinated support to third‑party commissioning agents
  • Produce documentation in accordance with company/customer procedures
  • Provide technical support to the client and third‑party commissioning agents
  • Comply with Company Standards of Conduct and all relevant statutory requirements
  • Help closeout punch list items on electrical equipment whilst coordinating with Third parties and Engineering.
  • Travel to customer sites as required
  • Provide on‑call customer support for various critical product lines
  • Produce accurate and regular reports on progress.
  • Coordinate with Engineering for continuous improvements in designs.
  • Ensure internal records for Customer supplied equipment is maintained to a high standard.
  • Record and document lessons learned and implement changes to reduce issues from reoccurring.
  • Reports to the Electrical Lead Cx Engineer.
  • Works closely with a Senior Cx Engineer to learn the trade and progress professionally
Job Qualifications
Technical/ Job Specific Skills Required
  • Work within a team environment, as well as independently. Be a self‑starter to execute a variety of project functions efficiently and professionally
  • Understanding of Electrical theory and control circuits.
  • Strong understanding of the hazards associated with electrical energy
  • Good knowledge of MS Office 365 Suite (highly desirable)
  • General knowledge regarding Industrial communications interfaces including Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU (desirable), Industrial Ethernet
  • Technical documentation produced using PDF software such as Adobe or Bluebeam.
  • Understanding of ladder logic and wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrating compliance to International Standards and Client Specifications.
Experience
  • knowledge of Electrical Power Systems and Previous experience working in a regulated industry.
  • Good knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical Systems and working industry knowledge.
