Job summary

Sphinx Defense is hiring a Junior DevOps Engineer to build and optimize a cutting-edge communications platform for US government satellites. You will help scale build and deployment automation and support development and deployment infrastructure for the Space Communications team.

The role focuses on Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, and Helm, with CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and a collaboration-driven culture. A TS/SCI clearance is required to work on classified environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux environments.
• Professional or academic Python/Go projects.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, or similar.
• Experience using Git for source control.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Rapid learner and adaptable to new tech.
• Ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support AWS-hosted and on-prem Kubernetes environments.
• Maintain reliable, secure, highly available platform infra.
• Improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines to support delivery.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Assist with Kubernetes deployments using Helm.
• Troubleshoot infra, platform, and app issues across AWS/Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with software engineers to improve deployment automation.
• Improve observability, automation, reliability, and ops efficiency.
• Support software deployments into classified environments.
