Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer (0-2 years) to join our Waterloo, IA team. The role supports CI/CD pipelines, automation, and software release processes in a fast-paced engineering environment.

You will work with Python, YAML, Git, and containerized workflows across Linux and Windows, collaborating with developers to improve build quality and efficiency. This is a contract position with hybrid workplace expectations in Waterloo, IA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 0-2 years of professional experience in software development, DevOps, automation, or related engineering disciplines.
• Academic or internship experience with Python programming.
• Understanding of version control concepts and Git-based workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and SDLC processes.
• Basic knowledge of software testing methodologies, including unit and integration testing.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, maintenance, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines.
• Support source control management, branching strategies, and code integration activities using Git and GitHub.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows to streamline software development and release processes.
• Participate in software build, packaging, and release management activities.
• Help implement and monitor automated testing, code quality checks, and security scanning processes.
• Support dependency management, artifact management, and software traceability efforts.
• Contribute to software quality initiatives, including test automation, static analysis, and code coverage reporting.
• Collaborate with software engineers to troubleshoot build, deployment, and integration issues.
• Work within Linux, Windows, and containerized environments to support development and deployment workflows.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve automation and engineering productivity.
