Job summary

San Joaquin College of Law seeks a Deputy District Attorney I for Mendocino County (Ukiah and Fort Bragg). Under supervision, you will perform professional legal work in misdemeanor prosecutions, including filing and trial preparation.

Responsibilities include interviewing victims and witnesses, reviewing reports, drafting motions, conducting legal research, and coordinating with investigators and other attorneys. Bilingual English/Spanish encouraged.

Responsibilities

Interview victims and witnesses related to crimes; discuss cases with investigators and attorneys.
Review police reports, defendant files, probation reports, witness statements, evidence and crime scenes to obtain information.
Negotiate resolution of cases with defense attorneys.
Appear and assist in court at arraignments, pre-trial conferences, and trials.
Research, draft and file motions, briefs and other legal documents.
Prepare cases for jury trials and coordinate with relevant parties.
Conduct legal research on criminal law issues.
Review documentation to file charges.
