Job Summary

The Junior Credit Analyst supports the evaluation of commercial borrowers by organizing and spreading financial statements, analyzing credit and financial data, preparing projections, and assisting with loan underwriting. Under the guidance of senior credit staff, the position also supports portfolio monitoring, annual reviews, servicing requests and data analysis to help identify credit risk and maintain accurate credit documentation.

  • Responsible for assisting senior credit staff with various credit functions including, but not limited to, credit analyses, financial statement organization and spreading, financial statement projections, loan underwriting, monitoring of loan portfolio (including annual reviews), performing data analytics, updating credit ticklers and other credit functions as directed by the Bank.
  • Specifically, support underwriters and/or Relationship Managers with credit analysis needed for loan requests and perform other credit support functions for loan approvals or modifications.
  • Assist in preparing analysis for servicing requests for loan portfolio.
  • Assist in the analysis of financial statements and related material for financial conditions and trends.
  • Determines cash flow using appropriate financial analysis.
  • Review and report non-compliance with loan covenants.
  • Prepare summaries and present facts, concerning credit worthiness.
  • Maintain control over current accounts, noting payment progress, watching for any developing problems, and keeping loan officers informed.
  • Ensure that all credit files include proper documentation including current financial statements, agency reports, etc.
  • Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies, main office files, etc.
  • Accompanies lenders on business calls (as needed).

Requirements
  • Working knowledge of commercial lending, business structures, financial statements, cash-flow analysis, collateral valuation, and credit risk assessment, including the ability to interpret market data and valuation calculations in appraisal reports.
  • Detail orientation, ability to work successfully with deadlines and time constraints, ability to learn and apply basics of the Bank’s products and services including loan products, self-motivation and decision-making skills required.
  • Foundational knowledge of commercial credit principles, theories, and concepts, with the ability to apply them under the guidance of senior credit staff.
  • Ability to review and spread personal and business financial statements and commercial and individual tax returns using the CASH Insight platform.
  • Ability to foster and sustain collaborative work relationships within the bank.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to analyze loan information, identify credit risks, and prepare sound, well-supported conclusions and recommendations for review by senior credit staff.

Education/Licenses/Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or related field.
  • Commercial Credit/Banking and/or related experience preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
  • Working knowledge of general banking and lending concepts and principals in addition to strong experience with and understanding Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
