Job summary

The State of Vermont is seeking a Civil Engineer I to join the Traffic Design Unit in Barre. You’ll design safe roadways, advance projects through the full lifecycle, and collaborate with engineers and experts across the Agency.

This in-office role offers some telework opportunities and a path for professional growth in public service. Minimum qualifications include a civil engineering degree (or associates with experience/Intern licensure) and a current senior in a related program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related technical field.
• Associate degree plus two years of engineering experience OR Engineer Intern licensure.
• College senior in final year of civil engineering or allied program.

Responsibilities

• Design projects like traffic signals, roundabouts, and multimodal facilities.
• Advance projects through scoping, design, review and construction.
• Prepare plan sets, specifications, and cost estimates under guidance.
• Analyze safety and operations to shape practical solutions.
• Occasional field visits to connect design decisions with conditions.

Education

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field

Associate degree + 2 years of engineering experience or Engineer Intern licensure

Senior college student in final year of relevant program
