Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Austin is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support project teams from concept to design completion. You will assist with producing drawings, reviewing design work, and applying standard civil engineering practices for diverse facilities including power, healthcare, and industrial projects.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program; ABET accreditation preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office).
• Basic CAD skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM/Revit, Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD).
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, organization and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in civil design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a variety of facilities.
• Assist in designing civil components per project needs.
• Apply basic civil engineering concepts and procedures.
• Assist with data collection, studies and reports for project teams.
• Support field inspections and client presentations and contract administration.
