Job summary

Sun Auto Tire & Service in Austin, TX is hiring a Junior Automotive Technician responsible for basic diagnostic and repair work such as oil changes, tire services, and light maintenance. You will use multi-point inspections and follow safety procedures while documenting vehicle conditions.

This role offers starting pay from $15.00 to $28.00 per hour with production bonuses, plus benefits including Sundays off, paid time off, insurance, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of automotive technician experience.
• Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Current, valid Driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• State Inspector License (in applicable locations) preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic mechanical repairs according to experience level.
• Perform tire mounting/dismounting, balance and rotation.
• Conduct oil changes and fluid changes and power flushes.
• Document vehicle condition using inspection and repair orders.
• Conduct State Safety and Emission Inspections where applicable.
• Follow safety procedures and report concerns to supervisor.
• Maintain flexibility in scheduling, including weekends.
• Adhere to company policies and values.

TheJunior Automotive Technicianis responsible for conducting basic automotive diagnostic and repair such as oil changes, tire and wheel related services and light vehicle maintenance such as brakes, suspension, and alignments.

Starting At: $15.00/Hr. to $28.00/Hourly. + Flag Hours on production

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs basic mechanical repairs based on level of experience
• Performs tire mounting/dismounting, wheel balance and tire rotation.
• Performs oil changes, fluid changes and power flushes and other basic services.
• Utilizes the company’s Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order to properly document the vehicle condition
• Conducts State Safety and Emission Inspections (in applicable locations) on vehicles in an ethical manner following all company and state guidelines
• Follows all safety procedures and reports any concerns to direct supervisor
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends as needed. Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

TheJunior Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and could include extreme heat and/or extreme cold depending on the ambient temperatures outside. The use of safety goggles or other PPE may be required when working in these conditions.

TheJunior Automotive Technician must be able to meet the following physical requirements:

• Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and able to walk to gain access to various areas of the building
• Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly throughout the day; must have full range of motion with arms and hands and be able to feel, handle or finger objects frequently
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, lift and/or move up to 70 pounds frequently.
• Communicate with customers and shop personnel
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus
