Junior Automotive Service Technician

How much will I make?

No professional automotive repair experience is required. A Junior Automotive Service Technician can earn between $30,000 and $45,000 per year. This position is designed to train and prepare individuals to become ASE-Certified Automotive Service Technicians. What are the hours?

We work Monday – Friday from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM, with up to a 1-hour lunch break. We believe our employees should have weekends free to spend with family and friends, so we are closed on weekends.

What are the work expectations?

The Junior Automotive Service Technician will learn to:

• Identify mechanical problems visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
• Perform tests on parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function, examining all critical components.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
• Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
• Conduct further tests, including test driving, to ensure repairs are correctly completed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred skills and abilities

• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle repair.
• Basic mechanical repair skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
• Familiarity with computer diagnostic tools and software.
• Ability to read service and repair manuals.

Education and experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ASE Certification A1 through A8 is preferred.
• 0 to 3 years of related experience is preferred.

Physical requirements

• Ability to work safely in a noisy environment with strong odors.
• Regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
• Inspect vehicles to determine repair needs.
• Good vision for inspecting work.
• Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat during repairs and inspections.
