Job summary

Southern Land Company in Nashville, TN seeks a Junior Architectural Designer to assist with documentation for high-end homes and small commercial projects. The role emphasizes learning construction documentation for wood frame structures and AutoCAD standards while working under supervision.

You will produce Builder Set drawings, maintain design standards, and collaborate with architecture, homebuilding, landscape, sales, interior design and marketing teams to ensure quality and timely delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field with 1–3 years’ experience.
• Associates degree in related field with 2+ years’ experience.
• Experience in Single-Family architecture or Traditional Neighborhood Design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce documentation for high-end speculative and custom homes, and small commercial structures.
• Create clear and concise Builder Set drawings reflecting client or designer vision within schedule and fees.
• Implement architectural standards, policies, and procedures related to design, documentation and quality control.
• Provide initial quality control for work products.
• Assist with revisions and maintenance of AutoCAD standards library.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, homebuilding, landscape, sales, interior design and marketing teams.
• Maintain knowledge of building codes and zoning regulations as they relate to residential design and construction.
• Understand costs of construction elements and emerging industry trends.
• Make exterior material and color recommendations as needed.
