Position Summary

Junior Analyst Intern – responsible for performing multifamily real estate market research and analysis for the Valuation Services Department. Duties include collecting market data, conducting research, analyzing economic trends, and assisting in market studies and appraisals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic economic and locational research via telephone interviews and internet resources.
• Perform apartment property interviews, screening, market analysis, comparable surveys, and demand analysis.
• Interview local housing authorities, planners, senior centers, chambers of commerce to identify market problems and demand.
• Interview apartment property managers of LIHTC/subsidized properties to collect property‑specific info and market conditions.
• Gather new information on multifamily developments by speaking with developers, researching newspapers and internet.
• Request comparables from appraisers/brokers for existing multifamily and land sales.
• Analyze demographic and economic data for market area (employment, wages, incomes) relative to affordable housing demand.
• Assist in writing market studies and appraisals of proposed and existing real‑estate developments.
• Analyze housing markets through rent/buy comparisons, construction, and other studies.
• Quantify excluded properties in the market area.
• Occasionally perform administrative tasks such as filing.
• Assist with other duties, projects, or partner requests as assigned.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience in real‑estate research, multifamily market analysis, or commercial appraisal is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable conducting telephone interviews and writing narrative reports.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills; meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage a fast‑paced, varied workload.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills.
• Available for domestic travel as needed, including driving, air, rail or other transportation.

Compensation
