Job summary

Riverbank Acoustical Laboratories in Geneva, IL is seeking an entry-level Test Engineer to support the design, development and implementation of field and laboratory test procedures. You will work with senior engineers to ensure project success and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities include conducting analyses, maintaining documentation, and performing acoustical tests per ASTM, ISO, and ANSI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Acoustics, Physics, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and practices.
• Two years acoustical engineering experience desired, but not required.
• Strong mathematical skills (Calculus or higher).
• CAD proficiency (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) is a plus.
• Experience with programming (C, Python, MATLAB, or VB.NET) is a plus.
• Expertise with modern acoustical test instrumentation and software (e.g., B&K PULSE LabShop).
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic engineering calculations and analyses.
• Participate in project planning and coordination meetings.
• Maintain and update engineering documentation and records.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Provide technical support to other departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
• Conduct unique research and analysis projects for RAL and customers.
• Write formal test reports for RAL procedures per standards.
• Perform acoustical test procedures per standards (ASTM/ISO/ANSI).
• Develop SOPs according to latest standards.
• Provide engineering support by developing customized test plans.
• Perform laboratory sound absorption and STC test procedures.
