Job summary

Summit Wash Holdings in Norwalk, CT seeks a motivated Junior Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their accounting career to gain hands‑on experience across multiple areas and the full month‑end close process.

The Junior Accountant will support day‑to‑day accounting activities, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and financial reporting. Location: Norwalk with flexible office/remote schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 0–2 years accounting experience; internships acceptable.
• Basic understanding of US GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Strong Excel skills and willingness to learn new systems.
• Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct, Netsuite, SAP) is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines during month-end close.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting docs.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and research items.
• Assist with monthly accruals, utilities, payroll, taxes, and expenses.
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and amortization entries.
• Assist with fixed asset accounting and depreciation.
• Review GL activity for unusual transactions and correct as needed.
• Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for journal entries.
• Support external audits and tax requests with documentation.
• Collaborate with operations to gather information for reporting.
• Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes.
• Assist with ad hoc reporting requested by Finance leadership.
