QUALITY CONSULTING GROUP, LLC invites applications for an instrumentation and controls specialist to join our team in the Puerto Rico/USA region. You will provide advanced calibration, programming, and maintenance for instrumentation and process control systems across manufacturing and utility equipment.

You will also support documentation, validation activities, and SOP development, ensuring strict cGMP adherence and readiness for audits.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with at least 6 months instrumentation experience or military experience.
  • GxP Documentation
  • Basic Calibration of Temperature, Pressure, Level and Analytical Instrumentation
  • Autoclave/Glasswasher skills
  • Maximo CMMS Documentation
  • Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) skills
  • Advanced hands-on knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, electronic, and process instrumentation
  • Strong understanding of process control loops, loop checks, and loop tuning
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting computer-based control systems
  • Hands-on experience with PLC, DCS, BMS, and MMI systems
  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronics, microprocessors, computers, and field instrumentation
  • Experience supporting equipment start-up, commissioning, validation, or qualification activities
  • Knowledge of cGMP, CFRs, SOPs, and regulated pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing environments
  • Ability to support on-call activities when required

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced instrumentation and process control support for manufacturing and utility systems and analytical laboratory equipment.
  • Calibration, installation, troubleshooting, loop checking, programming, repair, validation support, and technical documentation of instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Perform advanced calibration, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation used on manufacturing and utility equipment.
  • Perform loop checks, loop tuning, and troubleshooting of process control systems.
  • Design, install, configure, and start up instruments and microprocessor-based controllers used for process control.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software issues associated with computer-based process control systems.
  • Perform advanced programming and troubleshooting of PLC, DCS, BMS, and MMI systems.
  • Support start-up and commissioning of new equipment to ensure instrumentation meets established design specifications.
  • Evaluate existing calibration cycles and recommend changes to optimize equipment reliability and the calibration program.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records, instrument files, work orders, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain and manage an up-to-date spare parts inventory for instrumentation and process control equipment.
  • Perform equipment certification activities to verify compliance with applicable industry standards and Amgen procedures.
  • Assist with the development and execution of validation documentation for instrumentation and control systems.
  • Develop, revise, review, and maintain SOPs and technical procedures related to instrumentation and process control activities.
  • Maintain and update loop sheets, electrical schematics, P&IDs, I/O wiring documentation, and panel drawings
  • Support manufacturing and utility operations by planning and coordinating instrumentation activities to minimize impact to production.
  • Coordinate work performed by Amgen personnel and contractors with Operations and other site stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain technical training programs to strengthen team knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and plant systems.
  • Maintain required cGMP training documentation and ensure training requirements remain current.
  • Support investigations, troubleshooting activities, equipment modifications, and process improvements related to instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with CFRs, cGMP requirements, SOPs, safety requirements, and Amgen policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the instrumentation and controls team.
  • May assume lead responsibilities within the work team and provide direction to technicians or contractors.
