Description du poste

Davidson has distinguished itself in the aerospace and missile defense industry with an outstanding reputation for excellence. Specifically, we're recognized for hiring noted experts, experienced engineers and scientists dedicated to designing and delivering advanced, intelligent technology solutions in defense of our Nation.

Davidson Technologies Inc. is seeking a Jr. to Mid Kinematics (Threat Modeling) Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.

The Threat Modeling Center (TMC) is responsible for the development and delivery of high-fidelity threat modeling products in support of Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and MDA's Missile Defense System. The TMC Kinematic Systems Engineer is responsible for working with a group of engineers that generates the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories for the TMC. This data is delivered as part of an Integrated Threat Product (ITP) to various Department of Defense customers (primarily within the MDA) to drive the Threat portion of their simulations. ITPs are produced and delivered anywhere between one day and six months, so flexibility, requirements identification, and time management skills will be used on a daily basis.

The Kinematic Systems Engineer will have a good understanding of each threat country's differing capabilities, preferred Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and strategic objectives for any given scenario and be able to apply these capabilities to the specific scenario. The Kinematic Systems Engineer functions as the threat targeteer and from the adversary's perspective assigns a missile from that country's Order of Battle against specific targets, and then functions as the threat weaponeer, assigning a specific warhead to each missile used in the attack to achieve the scenario's training or engineering objective.

The Kinematic Systems Engineer processes results in an end-to-end threat attack laydown file that is modeled by the TMC, providing the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories. This is provided to US missile defense activities and select foreign countries for use in their simulations to analyze missile defense system performance and effectiveness.

Essential Functions:
  • The Kinematic Systems Engineer will help review customer scenario requests and provide feedback on potential problems or issues before the production process begins.
  • The Kinematic Systems Engineer will review the final document and data to ensure the customer's objectives were met and the high-resolution data accurately reflects the specifications provided to the Threat Modeling Center.
  • This position is responsible for generating kinematic trajectories using the TMC's Threat Modeling & Simulation Suite (TMSS) and trouble-shooting products and data.
  • This group also works closely with the TMC's System Engineering and Software Development groups, as most of the tools used by the group are developed in-house.
Job Requirements:
Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer - Level 2
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline preferred with 2 years of relevant experience, or 0-2 years' experience with a Maters' Degree.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
  • Understanding of Linux and Windows based platforms with their associated software
  • Ability to work independently and in groups and must be a self-starter
  • Excellent time management, schedule estimation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Principal Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer - Level 3
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline preferred with 5 years of relevant experience, or 3 years' experience with a Maters' of Science degree; or a PhD and 1 year of related experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
  • Experience in Linux and Windows based platforms with their associated software
  • Quality control experience with a strong background in test and troubleshooting
  • Excellent time management, schedule estimation, ability to lead projects and delegation skills
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in modeling and simulation
  • Knowledge of missiles and six degrees of freedom (6 DoF) trajectory representation
  • Familiarity with missile defense system components and their interoperability
  • Knowledge of missile targeting and allocation and "Red Force" laydowns
  • Experience with infrared and radar cross section (RCS) signatures
  • Experience in systems engineering and/or software development and testing, especially with Agile methodology
  • Experience working within the Missile Defense Agency, especially related to Ground Test exercises/events
