KBR is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer (Digital Engineering Process Support) to join our team on site in Chantilly, VA. TS/SCI with poly is required for consideration.

This effort is in direct support of a US Space Industry Prime Partner in the Chantilly, VA area. We are looking for self-driven, bold, passionate Systems Engineers who will join KBR on an exciting journey of professional thrill and personal growth as the Team pursues strategic Customer Enterprise-level challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in fulfilling Digital Engineering (DE) processes and methods for enterprise-wide adoption based on industry best practices and trends.
  • Support processes and methods such as Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes applicable for systems engineering and analyses, development of digital thread framework, model portfolio development, model quality and review processes, and updating acquisition methods.
  • Apprentice to experienced Systems Engineering MBSE practitioners and support them in enabling modernization of systems engineering and acquisition processes.
  • Deliver foundational digital engineering (DE) approaches that ensure the engineering and MS&A processes are met.
  • Assist technical teams and leadership in implementing MBSE methods and techniques.
  • Develop and support enterprise-level digital engineering approaches, ensuring models, data, and information are accessible, interconnected, and structured to support organizational goals.
  • Ensure that systems engineering and MS&A processes covered in the SOW requirements are followed.
  • Support the federated modeling approach across the enterprise and mission partners.
  • Adhere to the MBSE modeling methodology guidelines and principles established by the team.
  • Communicate modeling concepts and best practices to stakeholders at varying levels.
Basic Compensation

$82,000 - $102,000 USD annually. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline, no years of required experience.
  • Foundational understanding of systems engineering principles and familiarity with Digital Engineering (DE)/Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Basic understanding of data concepts and technologies such as relational databases, ontology, UAF or SysML.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders.
  • Must obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Poly.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Exposure to MBSE tools or coursework (e.g., SysML) is desired.
  • General awareness of digital industry trends such as Cloud/IaC, Data Analytics, DevSecOps, AWS and/or Azure, Containerization/micro-services.
  • Basic knowledge or academic exposure to satellite or space-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with Operations Research/Systems Analysis concepts.
  • Introductory knowledge of Digital Thread or Digital Twin concepts.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within systems engineering disciplines.
