Job summary

MissionStaff is seeking a Jr. Structural Engineer to manage the structural scope of projects from concept through detailed design. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and apply CAD tools and engineering codes to produce safe, efficient structures.

Ideal candidates have a Civil/Structural degree, 0–5 years of experience, and are ready to travel for field inspections. EIT is a plus, and familiarity with STAAD, FEA, CAESAR II is beneficial.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 0-5 years of experience in design and/or construction
• CAD proficiency and knowledge of engineering codes required
• EIT certification is a plus
• Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as STAAD, FEA, Caesar Pipe Stress Analysis (preferred)
• Knowledge of American Standard national design codes (AISC, ASCE)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to perform manual and computer-aided calculations

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with cooling towers and/or air-cooled condensers (ACC)
• Familiarity with ASME and AWS codes and non-destructive testing/inspection
• Knowledge of fabrication procedures, welding practices, and related standards
• Experience interfacing with clients, contractors, and multiple engineering disciplines

Preferred Education and Experience

• BS in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Prior experience in design and/or construction environments is preferred but not mandatory

Other Requirements

• Willingness to travel occasionally for field inspections and project site visits
• Ability to assume full responsibility for project support, ensuring customer compliance and adhering to industry standards
