Job summary

Taconic Hills CSD in New York seeks an enthusiastic and experienced High School Mathematics Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will foster problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and rigorous learning experiences for students.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Mathematics or Mathematics Education, NYS certification (7-12), and experience teaching higher-level courses such as Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or AP classes. Master’s degree preferred.

  • NYS teaching license or certification in Mathematics Education (7-12).
  • Experience with higher-level math courses (Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, AP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging mathematics curricula aligned with state standards.
  • Promote mathematical reasoning and productive struggle through discussion and justification of thinking.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design cohesive instruction and align curriculum with district goals.
  • Participate in professional learning communities to analyze student work and instructional strategies.
  • Utilize hands-on learning, real-world applications, and technology to enhance understanding.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners includingAdvanced learners.
  • Assess student learning with formative and summative assessments and provide feedback.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports growth mindset.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress, behavior, and attendance.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and expectations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational research.

ANTICIPATED VACANCY

At Taconic Hills CSD, we pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment where teachers can build meaningful relationships with students. Our smaller class sizes allow teachers to provide individualized support, encourage active participation, and engage students in deeper mathematical thinking. Teachers are supported through collaborative planning, professional learning opportunities, and a commitment to continuous improvement in instructional practice. The district is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced High School Mathematics Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education, a commitment to fostering problem-solving and mathematical reasoning, and the ability to engage students in meaningful and rigorous learning experiences.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid NYS teaching license or certification in Mathematics Education (7-12).
  • Experience teaching higher level courses such as Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, AP courses preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts, instructional strategies, and technology integration in math education.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in mathematics instruction, including conceptual understanding, mathematical discourse, and problem-based learning.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students with special needs and advanced learners.
  • Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing feedback and support for student growth.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and attendance.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational research, instructional strategies, and mathematics education trends.

Hours

7.25 hoursper day, 10months per year

Master's Degree Stipend

$900 per year

Stipend per Grad Credit

$50 per credit, per year
