Jr. High Assistant Baseball Coach

Reports to: Head Jr. High Baseball Coach and Athletic Director

Qualifications

Education: HS Diploma

Experience: Two (2) years assistant coaching experience preferred.

2. Ability to supervise and evaluate students.

Essential Functions

1. Create an environment of respect that is rooted in hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, and supporting teammates.
2. Conduct oneself in a manner that is conducive to being a positive role model for students.
3. Give appropriate attention, care, and follow-up to student athletes who are injured/ill.
4. Communicate Team expectations, effectively, at the beginning of and throughout the season.
5. Assist Head Jr. High Baseball Coach in organizing, supervising, maintaining, and developing the Jr. High Baseball program at Woodland R-IV Schools.
6. Help design training sessions that are dynamic, engaging, and challenging.
7. Work with the Athletic Director, Head Coach, Maintenance Supervisor, and Building Principal to ensure maintenance and safety of facilities.
8. Ensure adequate measures of control are taken for the safety and protection of all players, participants, sponsors, and spectators.
9. Follow all state, local, and MSHSAA guidelines at all times.
10. Assist head coach in scheduling and holding a pre-season parent meeting.
11. Establish a process whereby each student receives an evaluation, which becomes a part of the overall coach evaluation process.
12. Maintain and produce an inventory of Baseball equipment being used and/or available for use.

Physical Demands

1. The position will require the ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
2. This individual must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance and objects weighing in excess of 30 pounds with assistance.
3. The position requires the ability to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
4. Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
5. Must also be able to hear a conversation in a noisy environment.
6. The position requires a moderate amount of travel.

Conditions and Environment

The individual who holds this position will be required to be outside in an uncontrolled environment where temperatures may fluctuate and even rise above 100 degrees. The individual who holds this position is frequently required to work irregular or extended hours, nights, and/or weekends.

Evaluation of Performance and Employment

The evaluation of performance will be conducted by the Athletic Director. The Jr. High Assistant Baseball Coach will be considered for employment, at which time the District approves extra-duty assignments, as per the recommendation of the High School Principal.
