Job summary

EMCORE LLC in Concord, CA, is seeking a Jr. Buyer to manage purchasing of components and build strong supplier relationships. This on-site role supports continuity of supply to meet customer demand and business objectives.

You will collaborate with Engineering and Quality to qualify suppliers, maintain accurate ERP data, and help manage inventory and supplier performance. The position emphasizes a proactive, detail-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1–3 years in inventory and supply chain.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Familiarity with electronic components.
• Reading technical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Submit requisitions, secure quotations, process orders, and respond to demand changes via ERP.
• Work with Engineering and Quality to ensure suppliers are technically qualified.
• Support Supplier Scorecard Program.
• Maintain purchasing records, supplier docs, and ERP data.
• Identify and mitigate supply risks, including lead times, allocations, obsolescence, and constraints.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
• Review inventories and assist with reduction plans.
• Provide ad hoc support as needed.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for purchasing components and developing strong relationships with a variety of suppliers. Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, the role balances supply continuity to support customer demand and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for submitting requisitions, securing quotations, processing orders and reacting to demand changes through ERP system.
• Work with Engineering and Quality to ensure suppliers are technically qualified.
• Supporting Supplier Scorecard Program.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation, and ERP data.
• Proactively identify and mitigate supply risks, including extended lead times, allocation challenges, obsolescence concerns, and supplier constraints.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
• Review inventory levels, support inventory reduction plans.
• Ad hoc support functions as assigned.

• Familiarity with electronic components, PCB fabrication processes, and reading technical schematics.
• Knowledge / Experience with ISO-9001, AS-9100, and IPC Requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: College degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

Compensation

This position offers salary range of $45K - $65K depending on the candidate's experience, skill set, and overall qualifications.
